The Nutrition Center receives abandoned babies and sick babies who need good food, medical help and loving care to survive. When the little ones are old enough and strong enough the go into the main orphanage or in some cases, return to parents.

Guatemala is a mostly mountainous country except for the south coastal plains. The country has suffered from hurricanes, major earthquakes, volcanic activity and civil war which resolved in 1996. Guatemala has the lowest literacy rate in Central America. Spanish is the main language, but 21 different indigenous Mayan languages are also spoken. Roman Catholicism is the main religion.
