Education
Manila lives in two small rooms with her parents and sisters on the top floor of a shabby tenement building in a poor section of the capital city. Manila is an excellent student and works hard for her grades. She was almost always in first place in her class after each exam. When she finished class ten (Nepal's basic education) she almost did not take the entrance exam for nursing school, because she knew that her family had no money for the tuition. Out of 900 taking the test, Manila stood in 7th place. She had earned admittance and she had a government scholarship, but it was not enough. Manila's dreams would have ended right there if not for a sponsor giving to the Education Fund. Manila is now well on her way to becoming a professional nurse. As a believer, her training will give her a powerful tool and many opportunities to be a witness for the Lord.
We want to help children who are strong in faith to get the education they need to be leaders among their people. Those who want to go to Bible College to be pastors, evangelists and missionaries are our first priority. But we also have some who want to attend nursing school. Many believers in Nepal have testimonies of coming to the Lord when they were very sick and a Christian prayed for them. Nurses are in an excellent position to minister to people and to be a witness for the Lord.
Giving to the education fund helps children who have finished their basic educations to continue on as the Lord leads and enables them.
