The Lord sent us to make disciples of all the nations. This includes the remote mountain people of Nepal. They speak their own tribal language. The villages are far from the accessible roads. There are few believers among them and perhaps none with any Bible training at all. How can we reach them? We can provide education and training to a few, who can then in turn teach others of their own people.
Maranatha Children's Home grew from 10 children (9 boys, 1 girl) to twenty children (10 boys, 10 girls) in April 07. A new, larger home was rented, furnished and filled with children from profoundly poor Christian families in the mountain villages, who have a strong desire to continue their educations. Schools in the villages offer only through 5th grade. Almost all of the Christians among this people group are new believers, fruit of very recent soul winning efforts. There are no churches or trained pastors, but committed believers worship together in homes. Often, the leader of the cell group has very little Bible knowledge and may not be able to read.
When this home began, there were only 4 tiny rooms with beds, but almost nothing else. Now, donors have provided the means to rent more space, basic furnishings and enough support for 20 children. The children in this home are not orphaned or abandoned. It is a ministry to believers, to provide education and discipleship to carefully chosen children. In a few years, Maranatha will begin sending educated, well prepared leaders back into the villages for ministry which God will lead step by step.
