Chitwan program
Nepal

a ministry partner of Allow The Children

The Chitwan area in southern Nepal is one of the poorest areas of the country. The people are dependent on farming for survival and the land in the mountains does not yield well. The level of hunger, even near starvation between harvests makes for some of the most difficult living conditions imaginable.

Our sponsorship program had already begun through a Nepali partner before I visited for the first time. As I arrived, our partner introduced me to a man who approached our vehicle. Since my name had not been mentioned, I greeted him as Christians do in Nepal, "Jaimaishe" (Christ is victorious) and then, "I am Sue Cook...."

"I know your name." he answered to my surprise. "We pray for you daily and thank God for the help you have brought to our children." I climbed the short distance to the little church building where a group of children in our program waited in line to greet me. If you sponsor a child in the Chitwan program, I hugged your child that day. Some had walked for over three days to come. The closest child had walked for three hours.

Many children in Nepal wait for a sponsor who will make a difference in their lives.
